Is Way of the Hunter 2 out?
Yes. Version 1.0 launched on September 29, 2026 on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It had been in Steam Early Access since March 26, 2026.
How much does Way of the Hunter 2 cost?
The Standard Edition is $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99. The Deluxe Edition, which adds the Season One Season Pass, is $59.99. Owners of the first game get 13% off on the same platform. Prices per edition are on the editions page.
Is Way of the Hunter 2 multiplayer?
Yes, two-player online co-op. It reached the default branch in Update 0.4.1 on September 1, 2026. Single-player and co-op use separate worlds and animal populations. Multiplayer is online only, so there is no split screen.
Does Way of the Hunter 2 have crossplay?
No. Nine Rocks Games says crossplay is not in version 1.0; it is looking into it but has not promised it.
How many maps are in Way of the Hunter 2?
Three: New Laurentia (100 km², inspired by Canada), Kilimaya Reserve (100 km², Africa) and the Hearth & Hunt Headquarters (16 km² hub map with the upgradable lodge). Two more maps are planned in the first year.
How many animals are in Way of the Hunter 2?
28 species at 1.0: 15 in New Laurentia and 13 in Kilimaya Reserve. The Headquarters map reuses five North American species. Two more species are promised in post-launch updates.
How do I start a new game or start fresh in Way of the Hunter 2?
There is no separate reset button documented by the studio. On PC your saves live in %LocalAppData%\WOTH2\Saved\SaveGames; Nine Rocks' own fix for a locked save is deleting those save files by hand, which starts you from scratch. Copy the folder somewhere safe first, and never copy an old Experimental-branch save back.
Are there vehicles in Way of the Hunter 2?
Yes, a truck that the official site says takes you and your gear almost anywhere; you can summon it at campsites. Watch deep water: driving into it can still knock you out and send you back to the lodge. There is no radio, a common request from launch-week players.
Can you play Way of the Hunter 2 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. The console versions are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
Does Way of the Hunter 2 support mods?
No. The official FAQ says mod support is not planned at this time.
Can you play Way of the Hunter 2 offline?
Yes. The game is playable offline on PC and consoles; only multiplayer needs a connection.
What engine does Way of the Hunter 2 use?
Unreal Engine 5.7, with Nanite and Lumen. It supports DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, frame generation and resolution scaling.
Can you change ammo in Way of the Hunter 2?
Yes, since Update 0.5.0. Every gun has one free default ammo type with unlimited stock in storage; other types are bought in the shop. You carry 2 ammo sets with no backpack, 4 with the default backpack and 6 with the big backpack.
Is there character creation in Way of the Hunter 2?
Not yet. A female hunter and clothing options are planned for post-launch updates; at 1.0 you play the default male hunter.
What dog breed is in Way of the Hunter 2?
A Foxhound, chosen for following scent over long distances. Other breeds are not in 1.0; the studio says more may come later but it is not a priority.
Do Early Access saves carry over to 1.0?
Nine Rocks said its goal was to keep player progress through the move to 1.0 but could not promise it 100%. Saves played on the old Experimental branch should never be copied back to the default branch.
